if you've ever wondered about travelling down under...
While my main focus is wedding and lifestyle photography, I believe it's important to still share the work I do during my travel and leisure time. Travelling is a passion of mine, and being able to explore new places and use my camera in a different way allows me to re-light that creative spark and look at the world through a different lens. Every time I travel, I take what I've learned and tried and apply it to how I photography my couples and families - so why wouldn't I share the work that inspires me here too?
Travelling around Australia has always been a dream of mine - I was originally set to fly there in March 2020, but due to the pandemic my flights were cancelled. For the last 6 years, I've been counting down the days until I could try this trip again, and I'm so happy and grateful I was able to make it there. The 24 hour travel day from Toronto to Brisbane was so worth it, and the memories are priceless.
I travelled to the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sydney, The Blue Mountains, and Newcastle. It was the road trip of a life time with one of my best friends, and I got to capture some incredible images. Everything you may have heard about Australia is true: their coffee is fantastic, brunch food is taken very seriously (and it's amazing), the people are kind, the beaches are gorgeous, and yes, it get's incredibly hot there (wear your sunscreen). You can be as adventurous as you like with different hikes and sites, or you could spend the whole day at the beach and relax. Whatever kind of trip you're looking for, Australia is a must-see spot.
Below are just some of the photos I took on this trip - instead of my usual camera set up (Canon), I actually wanted to try something different. All the photos you'll see below are taken with my Fujfilm using a film-style edit for a more nostalgic and retro feel. I love the way these turned out, and I hope you do too.
